Cook Park
Good day my dear friends!
As you know, I am a wandering cat and I travel many places far and wide, but sometimes the best trips, the ones you like the most, are the simplest and closest to home. It is just such trip I am going to tell you about today.
This trip was to a pretty little city park in Tigard, Oregon called Cook Park. Cook Park is located on the Tualatin River. This river isn't very big, but you can kayak on it. There is even a boat ramp you can use to put your kayak in the water. (This makes it a popular spot in the hot summer.)
But what I like is the bike path. It cuts through a very wooded area next to the river. I like it because my human can use the path with her walker and I get to explore the trees! I climb trees, stumps, fallen logs, anything I can get my claws into. Man, do I love the feel of bark under my claws! It's almost as good as salmon. Almost.
While a lot of people use the park for picnics, the playground, the soccer fields and baseball diamonds, and, as I mentioned earlier, the kayaking, surprisingly few use the bike path. Some do of course, but more people walk it than ride on it. This makes for nice quiet walks. I like people, but not a lot of them at the same time. I want to focus on the bugs, the birds, and the trees. That is part of the beauty of Cook Park.
Some of these people using the bike path bring their canines. Silly humans. Don't they know dogs can't climb trees? Why bring a dog to the woods? The woods are for cats! I'm telling you, if not for the comfy bed, the scratches behind the ears, and, of course, the salmon, I would live in the woods; chasing grasshoppers, squirrels, and birds, and climbing trees. That's the life. Actually...getting to do all those things, then going home to a nice comfy bed, some ear scratching, AND salmon, now THAT is the life! Hey, I HAVE THAT!! I knew I was liv'in the good life. This trip just proved it. I climbed some trees, chased some bugs, then went home to salmon and a great nap. It doesn't get any better.
Till next time my friends, keep wandering. Even if it's close to home, it can be great fun!
